John Loengard's The Age of Silver is a tribute to the last great generation of photographers working with negative film, a medium now nearly as antique as the engravings and photogravures of earlier eras. Loengard began photographing his fellow photographers thirty years ago, eventually gathering a roster of world-class artists that includes Richard Avedon, Berenice Abbott, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Andre Kertesz, Annie Leibovitz, Sebastiao Salgado, and many more.Born in New York City in 1934, John Loengard is best known for his long association with Life magazine, for which he was a freelance photographer before joining the magazine as a staff photographer in 1961.
